Welcome to Minnesota Men’s Crew!
The University of Minnesota Men's Rowing (Crew) team was founded in 1957 and has offered UMN students a chance to learn a new sport and compete against other club and varsity programs around the country for 60+ years. The team rows out of the Irene Claudi Kroll boathouse, located right on campus on the Mississippi River. Minnesota Men’s Crew is a student-run club, combining funding from the University, the students and a generous alumni base to provide full-time coaching, equipment, and travel.
Academic Excellence
Enter a community that encourages top academic performance. Ten members of the varsity team were named Academic All-American in 2024!
Athletic Excellence
Minnesota rowers travel around the country compete against the top club rowing programs in the United States. We are part of the American Collegiate Rowing Association for university programs all around the United States. We compete in the ACRA Regatta (currently in Oak Ridge, TN) in May for the club national championship. This event is now the largest collegiate regatta in the country, attended by 71 colleges and universities in 2024.
In 2024, one Minnesota rower was named as First Team, All-American and four more were named to the All-Regional Team, including coach Scott Armstrong.
Minnesota has also graduated athletes who have moved on to row for the United States on to the world stage, including at the Olympics. All of them learned to row here on the Mississippi.
